Revive Us Again

Words: William P. Mackay, 1863
Music:  John J. Husband, 1815

Apathy.  I hate to say it, but sometimes this occurs in regards to my spiritual life.  Maybe it’s the heat.  Maybe it’s the working, school taking, dog training, dinner-and-lunch-making, carpet-cleaning, exhaustion.  Maybe it’s just too hard sometimes.  Or so I think.

We praise Thee, O God!
For the Son of Thy love,
For Jesus Who died,
And is now gone above.

We need to be reminded DAILY that Christ endured suffering for us.  We need to remember this every day, and give thanks for Him and His sacrifice.  Not just on Easter, not even on Christmas.  The best part of that story, is that He conquered death, and is now sitting in Heaven waiting for us to join Him!

Hallelujah! Thine the glory.
Hallelujah! Amen.
Hallelujah! Thine the glory.
Revive us again.

So often, my day’s aren’t singing Hallelujah! Some days, they’re just humming a short little Halle…..   And I get distracted!  God WANTS to revive us and keep our flame going.  If only we ask and let him kindle the fire!

Revive us again;
Fill each heart with Thy love;
May each soul be rekindled
With fire from above.

Love.. Imagine if the love in our hearts was truly a fire that was rekindled… Right now, New Mexico is dealing with our ever present danger of fire.  The past few years, and droughts, and careless people have destroyed massive parts of this beautiful State. Imagine the widespread benefit LOVE would have if it truly was a fire in our soul and heart, sweeping across every city, every street, every home.  Hate can spread quickly, but love can disperse and infect our world in mere seconds if we let it.

For thus says the One who is high and lifted up, who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy: “I dwell in the high and holy place, and also with him who is of a contrite and lowly spirit, to revive the spirit of the lowly, and to revive the heart of the contrite.”  – Isaiah 57:15

And all it takes is a willing heart, asking God to revive us.

Heavenly Father, I come to You right now asking for a revival.  My heart has become hardened by pain, my soul is only a small flame showing Your love;  I have forgotten what Your promises are in the midst of day-to-day life.  I ask You to use me to bless others as I help spread Your love-fire.

Hallelujah! Thine the glory.
Hallelujah! Amen.
Hallelujah! Thine the glory.
Revive us again.“Will you not revive us again, that your people may rejoice in you?”  – Psalm 85:6
